Winning more fans with her turn as Disney's Elsa in the hit feature film "Frozen," Idina Menzel releases the new sound of the season with a compilation of favorites on her new album "Holiday Wishes." The Broadway Baby isn't just sitting on her laurels these days. After gaining some joyful momentum with her hit single "Let It Go" and her current run on the Great White Way, Menzel has collaborated with super music producer Walter Afanasieff (Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, Christina Aguilera) to bring together this contemporary collection of holiday favorites.
Idina Menzel has always had a vocal acuity that is fashionably all of her own and on these seasonal favorites she is able to give magnificent breath and performance to classics like "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." She teams up with Michael Bubl� on the duet "Baby It's Cold Outside" begging for the track to be performed live and for the pleasure of an audience -�the two give the hit song a modern flare that still lends polish to its classic Hollywood musical origins.
Her rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" has a lush warmth that sings as brightly as any fully-decorated Christmas tree glows brilliantly from the living room window. The track is produced with homage to its familiar arrangement while benefitting from a very current interpretation. Taking on the Mariah Carey signature tune "All I Want For Christmas," Menzel jazzes the song up with a groovy beat all of her own. This is certainly one of the most profoundly exciting tracks available on the setlist.
In honor to her Disney fans, Menzel delivers on the tune "When You WIsh Upon A Star" -�not necessarily a holiday tune, but undeniably one that inspires the glitter and glitz of wonderment that one requires to help bring about that optimism and joy that are part of the season. Overall thrilling and well executed, fans of Christmas classics will find all their wishes come true in Idina Menzel's "Holiday Wishes." It makes for a great soundtrack to create the most lasting and memorable holiday moments.
