MassResistance, a Massachusetts anti-gay group, is up in arms about a story that was published in the Boston Globe last weekend and recently posted a reaction to the piece. The article told the harrowing story about 14-year-old twin boys, Jonas and Wyatt Maines. Although born as identical twins, Wyatt wanted to be a girl.

"The ultra-radical nature of the cultural revolution is coming into full view," MassResistance writes in a Dec. 12 post. "With the Massachusetts ’transgender rights’ bill passed, the next frontier is public acceptance of sex-changes for children. Is this America’s future?"

Wyatt, who now goes by Nicole, had the support of her parents who took her to a groundbreaking clinic at the Children’s Hospital in Boston. The clinic helps families deal with emotional and medical issues that come from having a transgender child.

At the Children’s Hospital Gender Management Services Clinic, Nicole went under hormone therapies that helped Nicole become the person she wants to be.

Despite all of the difficult treatments and experiences Nicole and her family have been through, MassResistance says that she "is and always will be biologically and genetically a male."

The organization then goes on to condemn the Children’s Hospital in Boston, saying, "These ghastly ’procedures’ are being done to children by the elite medical establishment."

MassResistance also slams the hospital for its child transgender program, calling it "bizarre and unbelievable."

Several other religious right-wing organizations were critical of the Boston Globe publishing Nicole’s story, including Life Site News. The website reported the story and a number of their readers left appalling comments about the 14-year-old. One commenter wrote, "This is a horrendous example of child abuse. People today are so far from what is natural, and from what God’s sacred plan for our sexuality is, that they wouldn’t know normal if it beat them with a stick."

Another commenter wrote, "Sounds like the mom really wanted a girl and saw twin boys as an opportunity to play dolls and dress-up with one of them, through the "miracle" of science... God forgive them for they know not what they do."

Despite of MassResistance, the state has been extremely progressive when it comes to transgender issues. Not only do they have one of the only clinics in the country that specialize in children who have identity issues, Gov. Deval Patrick (D) signed the Transgender Rights Bill last month, reported EDGE in a Nov. 23 article.

The legislation protects transgender people from discrimination in the workplace as well as housing. Several gay rights organizations were thrilled about the decision and say it is a step in the right direction for equality.

I really wish they’d stop throwing God around. What if they are atheist, muslim, wiccan? Suppose they do not believe in a Christian God (oh...and God is not christian.). Christians need to re-read the Bible. "And they became Eunics for their own good"

Jesus protect me from your less intelligent or all of your followers! She looks Happy and a parents job is to make sure their children are Happy! The people who spout their fear and hate have more issues then judging a child and her parents, Oh but I forgot thats what they do in their homes or trailers.

I’m 48 and a Trans woman. My parents are in there early 70’s. They are totally accepting of me and all they want is for me to be happy. To see a story like this from a so called "religious group" makes me sick. I am so glad this child’s parents have taken her to the hospital that they did. They love there child deeply. I wish all children were treated with this much love. I am being helped by doctors who truly care about my health. All those who treat me have gone above and beyond as far as my care is concerned. For me to see this child get the care she needs really warms my heart.
