Out City Council Speaker’s Christine Quinn’s rising political prominence is bringing a decades-long dispute between New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade organizers and gay activists back into sharp relief.

Irish or not, each year more than 50% of Americans celebrate the big day with parades, corned beef, and of course, heavy drinking. Mixologist Alex Ott in NYC, concocted a green Irish cocktail made with Mercy hangover prevention.

Given that it’s been spring throughout much of this winter, why not get in sync with Mother Nature and mix up a batch of bright green cocktails in honor of Saint Patrick.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Baileys is enlisting top Boston cocktail professionals to create a modern version of the Irish Coffee cocktail. Mixologists, including John Henderson of Scholars, will utilize new wave ingredients.

Word from the Old Country is that the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York is "not Irish" because it bans gays and lesbians.
